Re: Fall damage + stamina loss walking downhill

The (uphill - lol) falling damage will be fixed with the next big version update (server+client)
Both are being developed and tested at the moment and will include fixes as well as new content and features...

Re: Fall damage + stamina loss walking downhill

Hi, Not sure if the stamina loss is a feature or a bug but losing both stamina and health when running downhill is a pretty large penalty imo. So maybe reduce it a bit? Grtz, This was an unintentional consequence of the changes made to allow for falling damage. Just like jumping through the woosh p...

Hi and welcome Jack :)

Testing the game and reporting any bugs you find will help us along nicely.
We won't be separating you from 40k dollars, but we do accept donations to save up for a Unity Pro license ;)

Re: Robot Ship

There is a fine balance to be found here. Previously there were people just camping the ship for treasure. (login/pickup/logout) This caused a lot of credits to drain from the pool and aversely effect the loot. (no loot to be more precise) It takes time to explain newcomers how to get to the treasur...

Re: Very slow moving mobs

Choppy movement was caused by the server FPS but this is not the case at the moment (FPS has been steady for a week) According to John the movement speed should show a bit of variation. They should still be able to reach you before dying though. Just heard someone else about the speed so i will go c...

Re: patch Need your help

Patches for the game are a rather new thing. It's been working fine most of the time, at least that's the feedback I got.
Will see if I can make the process more failsafe. In any case there will be a full package update provided with the next client update.

Scary stuff...

This was probably due to the server lag spikes after we upgraded the Unity engine (persuaded only by the realtime shadows) We're happy to have these issues fixed now and will continue working on new content. It's still possible to get this kind of behavior when your router/firewall setup blocks traf...

Incoming Awesomeness...

Hello Everyone, So what's up? Well, multiple things, really... First of all, we are finally able to confirm that the server is running smoothly again. A lot of time was spent to investigate the lag spikes introduced after the engine upgrade to version 4.2.0. The biggest issue being there were no clu...

VU 0.5.7 - Silent But Deadly

Hello Everyone, and welcome to the official release of VU 0.5.7... "Wait, what?... What happened to VU 0.5.6?" Well... To keep a long story as short as possible, we released the 0.5.6. version silently as a sneak preview to a select group of our most fanatic supporters. Our reasoning behind this was...

Re: What is the difference with Unity free and Unity Pro?

Alright, here we go. These are some of the Unity Pro features that we can put to real good use for Project Ion. Light & Darkness This is some serious eye candy right here. The lighting features and optimizations are very limited in free so this would be a big asset for us to give a(n even) better lo...

The pyramid is really nice and provides enough room for about three levels. Fight your way towards the top for the biggest rewards. :)

An optimal polygon count would be in the 2~3k range. A good texture should be enough but a bump and specular map are a big plus. :)

Re: Zombie town

I hope this doesn't hurt anyones feelings but the first model is just plain ugly (very low poly) :) The second zombie is lacking detail info and doesn't really fit our setting anyway. I think mutants will be more likely to fit in with all the alien abductions going on since the 1960's. Something hap...

Re: Trying to compose some music for the game!

What if you integrate a third party like soundcloud? If that's possible ofcourse. I've been thinking about something similar with shoutcast radio stations, but it's an uncharted terrain of development for me. Even though a 3rd party library would help develop something like this we'd still need the...

Re: Trying to compose some music for the game!

Music adds a lot to the game, including extra weight on the installer. (Unless you're adding tracker modules ;))
It's not a priority (yet) though there should be a way to have the music files separate from the game.

Re: Zombie town

I've been looking for a zombie/mutant model replacement since we took out the buggy skeleton in a previous VU. The free models that are available either contain too much detail to use in game, or it's in a closed format like .max. It's true that UMA can be used to generate these but it will take a l...

Re: Multi level spaceship

The spaceship model currently in game may be considered a placeholder until we get something better. More levels sounds like a nice challenge so if anyone of you knows his or her way around 3d modeling and build a nice ship... We can be persuaded to swap models before we get to the eye candy stage o...
